Develop skills to interpret engineering drawings.

Develop skills to carry out work on manual lathes and milling machines.

Develop skills to machine parts according to drawing specifications and tolerance.
-
Accurate record keeping of parts machined and material used.
-
Physical housekeeping in Machining area.
-
Housekeeping and organised storage of CNC programs and other software.
-
Machine preventative maintenance tasks.
-
Repairs as required on all workshop machinery.
-
Trouble shooting as required with and without vendor assistance if available.

Assist in other areas of workshop if required.
-
Assist other Tradesmen to undertake strip and assess and then rebuild of Metso Outotec fixed plant equipment including, but not limited to, crushers, crusher components, screens and screen parts, gearboxes, conveyor pulleys and drives, hydraulic units, slurry pumps, rail car and dumper components.

Informs of status and disposition of customer requirements specific to job progress and status.

Keep the workshop supervisor informed of TAFE requirements well in advance.

A strong commitment to both personal safety and the safety of others around them

A current Driver’s License

Certificate II in Engineering (desirable but not essential)

Good aptitude for Math and competent computer skills

Nationally recognized trade qualification – upon successful completion of your apprenticeship, both theory at TAFE and practical in the workplace, you will receive an industry recongised trade qualification.
