Introduction
Metso is currently seeking a Design Engineer to join our dedicated Pumps Team in Kalgoorlie. In this role, you will contribute to the design and development of customised solutions for customer orders and quotations, support product care initiatives, and provide technical expertise to our global manufacturing and cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities
As a Design Engineer, you will:
- Develop 3D models using Metso’s current design software.
- Create accurate manufacturing drawings based on standards and engineering calculations.
- Produce General Arrangement drawings for customers.
- Assist in resolving issues related to assembly or incorrectly fabricated parts.
- Generate part numbers and manage item data in the business system.
- Perform and initiate basic strength evaluations and calculations.
- Maintain and update the drawing and Vault database.
- Conduct documented product safety reviews as part of the daily design process.
- Collaborate on new design solutions both independently and as part of project teams.
- Participate in and contribute to design reviews.
- Recommend and implement design improvements based on feedback from production, quality, and procurement teams.
- Maintain a well-organised and efficient approach to work.
- Act as a team member or leader in order-based engineering projects.
- Support other tasks and special projects as required.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Proficiency in 2D drafting and 3D CAD modelling tools.
- Experience designing with standard machine elements and structural steel materials.
- Knowledge of centrifugal pump design or similar machinery, including castings and welded structures.
- Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills with a solution-focused mindset.
- A proactive, results-driven attitude with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to meet deadlines and adapt scope and priorities to align with project plans.
- Clear and effective communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
- A commitment to safety and continuous improvement in all aspects of work.
