Summary
The Shop Assembly Specialist is responsible for providing an adhering to proper assembly of shop related assembly and repair services on any product line equipment for rebuild and general assembly. The specialist will be able to gain knowledge and competency on any Metso equipment and systems.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform tear down, inspection, repair, and final assembly of mining equipment (e.g., gearboxes, motors, pumps, screens).
- Ensure accurate documentation of maintenance actions, job progress, and technical reports.
- Maintain and update equipment records, manuals, and best practice procedures.
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues and recommend corrective actions or process improvements.
- Collaborate with internal teams, project managers, and technical support to resolve issues and track project completion.
- Travel to customer sites for inspections and repairs, coordinating field activities as needed.
- Uphold quality standards and communicate effectively with QA/QC personnel and stakeholders.
- Support HSE initiatives and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
Qualifications
- Prior experience with mining process equipment and mechanical components.
- Proficient in reading requisitions, shop drawings, welding details, and engineering specifications.
- Skilled in using welding equipment and precision measuring tools (e.g., micrometers, pi tapes).
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems including bearings, bushings, and gearing.
- Knowledge of machine operation, maintenance, and repair.
- Familiarity with design principles, blueprints, and technical models.
- Basic understanding of destructive and non-destructive testing methods.
- Capable of identifying technical discrepancies and recommending corrective actions.
- Bends, stoops, crouches, twists, pick up and lift raw materials of various weights and lengths. Lifts up to 50 pounds occasionally and 20 pounds regularly
- Visual acuity to operate machines
- Work both inside and outside in various weather conditions.
