Introduction to the Role

The QA/QC Specialist is responsible for the day-to-day workflow of all QA/QC activities in the Henderson workshop with occasional requirements to attend vendor sites for inspection purposes. The role reports to the Workshop Supervisor.

 

Main Responsibilities

 

  • Perform all QA/QC activities and as directed by the Workshop Supervisor.
  • Inspect arrival material and parts in accordance with drawings, purchase order, scope of work and Metso specifications.
  • Inspect arrival components to be refurbished and prepare report then submitted to Coordinators for quotation purposes.
  • Prepare and maintain work completion and inspection plan (WCIP) for all dismantle and assembly jobs within workshop.
  • Raise all non-conformance issues with Workshop Supervisor and Coordination Team Leader.
  • Manage calibration programs accordance with Metso procedures.
  • Train workshop personnel in regard to quality of relevant jobs.
  • Attend all Safety Meetings and weekly planning meeting.
  • Comply with established HSE and Quality System Policies and Procedures
  • Adhere to safe work practices and report immediately any unsafe equipment.
  • Work within Metso’s HSE guidelines and policies.
  • Report all accidents and hazards.
  • Wear the provided personal protective equipment when appropriate and required.
  • Consult with management on HSE matters affecting the work place.

 

QUALIFICATIONS &EXPERIENCE

  • A mechanical trade qualification from college or technical school; or five to eight years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Ability use accurately use precision measuring equipment. Eg. Internal/external micrometers, height gauges, dial indicators, vernier calipers, feeler gauges.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, drawings, specifications, operation & maintenance instructions and manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Must have good understanding of English language.
  • Must have good communication skills.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule form.
  • Competent in Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Internet.
  • Able to operate AutoCad is preferred.
  • Ability to use inspection tools like CMM measuring arm probe and PMI gun is preferred.

 

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be Australian citizen or have the ability to work in Australia.
  • Must have current Western Australian motor vehicle license.
  • Must be able to pass random medical and drug tests.
  • Forklift and Dogging (or higher) ticket highly desirable, with on the job experience using this equipment.
