Introduction
We are seeking a DGM – Technical Support, BMH to join our Provide advanced technical support for Metso Bulk Materials Handling product offerings (including railcar handling equipment, apron feeders, stackers, reclaimers, conveyors, and associated material handling systems) across the full equipment lifecycle. This role operates with high autonomy and accountability and serves as a technical authority for complex system issues, escalations, and strategic initiatives. This role owns complex technical cases from intake through resolution, delivers structured troubleshooting and root-cause analysis, supports installation/commissioning when required, and drives knowledge capture and continuous improvement to reduce customer downtime and improve reliability, safety, and quality outcomes.
In this position, you will report to Director – BMH Application Engineering and Technical Support.
This position is mainly located in Gurugram, however, it may involves up to 30% of travel to Customer Site basis requirements.
Team you belong to
You will join a team of Experts from Market Areas, Field Service, Product Line/Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Project Management, and Technical Sales Support to ensure timely, technically sound solutions.
What you’ll do
- Own and manage technical cases end-to-end (intake → triage → investigation → resolution or formal handover), ensuring accurate documentation, structured follow-up, and knowledge capture in approved systems.
- Provide high-level technical expertise in troubleshooting, diagnosis, repair/rectification, operation and maintenance, and performance optimization for assigned equipment and associated mechanical and/or automation systems.
- Perform failure analysis and structured Root Cause Analysis (RCA), define corrective and preventive actions, and communicate systemic issues (VOC) to Engineering/Product teams for design, process, or documentation improvements.
- Support installation, commissioning, start-up, and ramp-up activities as required, including complex technical escalations and on-site interventions.
- Provide engineering support for aftermarket/service projects (spare parts, retrofits, modernization, upgrades, service campaigns), including evaluation of repair procedures and recommendations for long-term reliability improvements.
- Support warranty claim evaluations, quality deviations, and formal customer complaints by providing technical assessments, recommended resolutions, and follow-up actions.
- Develop and maintain technical knowledge assets: troubleshooting guides, service work instructions, manuals/service workbooks, service bulletins/technical bulletins, resolution databases, and training materials.
- Contribute to technical training delivery (internal/external), including participation in certification or competency programs as applicable.
- Identify lifecycle service and upgrade opportunities during technical engagements and support conversion into technically feasible proposals in cooperation with Sales/Project teams.
- Participate in remote support programs and on-call rotations (including 24/7 coverage where applicable) to meet agreed response and resolution times.
- Ensure full compliance with QEHS and site safety requirements; complete risk assessments and follow safe work practices at all times.
Who you are
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Automation, Metallurgy, Process Engineering, or related discipline (or equivalent industry experience).
- Demonstrated expertise in troubleshooting heavy industrial equipment and/or associated automation systems in process industries.
- Experience supporting commissioning, field service, or aftermarket environments; ability to work effectively in industrial plant conditions.
- Strong analytical, structured problem-solving capability (RCA), and clear customer-facing communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate across global, cross-functional teams and work independently in a dynamic environment.
- Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally as required. Up to 20% travel may be required.
