JOB TITLE: OPERATIONAL BUYER BASED IN GERMISTON, GAUTENG

 

We are seeking an Operational Buyer (Consumables Supply Chain) to join our Screening team in 
factory Johannesburg. The successful candidate will be responsible for administrating production material availability in CNS Supply Chain.  

 

In this position, you will report directly to the Director, Fabrication and Assembly Operations, Central 

 

This position is mainly located in Germiston, Gauteng.

 

 

Team you belong to

 

You will join the Consumables Supply Chain team, who are passionate about managing continuous improvement initiatives with external suppliers and benchmarking total cost and performance. The team works closely with suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure the availability of finished goods at optimal cost and quality while maintaining compliance with Metso standards, policies, and procedures.

 

 

What you'll do

 

  • Implement and administer material purchasing activities to support production requirements.
  • Manage ordering, sourcing, and inventory activities through SAP Project System (SAP PS).
  • Ensure on-time delivery of production materials and maintain optimal material availability.
  • Coordinate logistics activities between vendors and the factory.
  • Monitor supplier on-time delivery and quality performance and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities across purchasing activities.
  • Prepare and maintain purchasing and supply chain reports for management and the wider Metso organization.
  • Support supplier performance, compliance, and inventory optimization activities.

 

 

 

What you'll bring

 

  • Matric (Grade 12)
  • Relevant experience in production, purchasing, materials management, or supply chain operations.
  • Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret data to support recommendations and decision-making.
  • Understanding of cost optimization, supplier performance, and inventory management principles.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong communication, cooperation, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, sense of urgency, and customer-focused approach.
  • Ability to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Mechanical aptitude and a proactive, problem-solving mindset.
  • English language proficiency.
  • Valid driver's license 
  • Experience working with SAP
