Vice President, Business Development, Minerals Business Area, Metso
Introduction
As Vice President of Business Development at Minerals business area, you will drive sustainable profitable growth across our Minerals business. You will work with a great global team and manage strategy development and versatile business development projects. You will contribute to Metso’s success by ensuring we execute and develop our focused Minerals segment strategy.
Your role is to lead the Minerals business area development agenda in the next phase of our growth and strategy execution. You will have the opportunity to leverage your experience in strategy, business transformation, M&A, digital, and AI transformation, operational development and change management to take the business to the next level. You will be accountable for translating strategic priorities into measurable business and financial outcomes.
As a member of the Minerals leadership team, you will steer business development priorities that directly shape market position and financial performance. Close collaboration with the Minerals business lines, functions, aftermarket colleagues, market area colleagues and group functions is crucial for success.
The location for this position can be our headquarters in Espoo, Finland or any Metso office in the world.
The team you belong to
The VP Business Development role is part of the Minerals business area. You will report to Piia Karhu, the President of the Minerals business area, and be a member of the Minerals business area leadership team.
What you’ll do
- Lead Business Development within the Minerals business area, in close collaboration with Minerals leadership team as well as Minerals Aftermarket, Market Area and Group function colleagues.
- Deliver strategic initiatives that expand market share, improve profitability, and strengthen long-term competitiveness of the Minerals business.
- Lead Minerals segment strategy execution and development together with colleagues in Minerals aftermarket, Market areas and group functions.
- Drive and manage M&A pipeline and processes aligned with Metso’s long-term vision for the Minerals segment.
- Move beyond strategy design to drive execution, ensuring initiatives translate into tangible business results.
- Collaborate closely with market area teams, and business line leaders and function leaders to secure strategy progress.
- Represent Metso in high-impact customer engagements and industry forums to promote thought leadership and commercial agenda.
- Oversee market intelligence, customer insights, and competitive analysis to support strategic planning and competitiveness development.
- Lead and inspire global, cross-functional teams to deliver results, foster innovation, and promote collaboration across regions and businesses.
Who you are
- Proven experience in leading strategy renewal, growth and profitability improvement of international businesses.
- Experienced in leading versatile business development and transformation projects.
- Demonstrated experience in M&A strategy, deal execution, and post-merger integration.
- Skilled in versatile large-scale analysis and developing recommendations based on data.
- Direct experience in mining, mineral processing, or heavy industry is beneficial but not essential. We also value proven global industrial leadership and the ability to drive transformation in complex B2B environments.
- Capable of building long-lasting and valuable customer relationships.
- Experience in leading global teams and managing cross-functional collaboration across diverse geographies.
- Hands-on approach to working in a matrix organization.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strategic thinker with strong analytical capabilities and business acumen.
- Masters degree in engineering, business, or a related field.
- Fluent in English; other languages are an advantage.
