Are you passionate about sustainability and eager to contribute to meaningful projects that drive environmental responsibility? Join Metso as a Summer Trainee – Sustainability and help us advance our sustainability initiatives by contributing to projects that help us understand customer sustainability priorities and develop our circular economy concept and approach. We are looking for two Sustainability Trainees: one with a focus on customers and circularity, and another specializing in data and reporting.
As a Summer Trainee – Sustainability, customers and circularity, you will:
- Analyze key customer sustainability priorities to identify trends, expectations, and opportunities that align with Metso’s sustainability strategy.
- Support the development and benchmarking of circularity concepts, helping to advance resource efficiency and closed-loop solutions in the mining and aggregates industries.
- Support the development of Metso’s R&D circularity playbook.
- Support the management of sustainability-related data and reporting processes, including collecting, and analyzing environmental and social metrics.
- Participate in projects that create actionable insights and contribute to Metso’s long-term sustainability objectives.
As a Summer Trainee – Sustainability data and reporting, you will:
- Conduct a sustainability reporting benchmark study to analyze industry best practices and support Metso’s continuous improvement in transparency and reporting.
- Perform biodiversity area proximity mapping for Metso locations, suppliers, and customers, helping identify and assess potential impacts on sensitive ecosystems.
- Map water scarcity risks and proximity for Metso locations, suppliers, and customers to strengthen our water stewardship strategy.
- Support the management of sustainability-related data and reporting processes, including collecting and analyzing environmental and social metrics.
- Participate in projects that create actionable insights and contribute to Metso’s long-term sustainability objectives.
Who you are
- A higher degree of study background in fields such as engineering, economics, sustainability, or equivalent.
- A positive and proactive can-do mindset with a strong work ethic.
- Eagerness to learn, develop, and succeed in the role.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in MS Office tools, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
- Good written and spoken English skills.
- An ability to take ownership of assigned tasks and projects and drive them proactively.

The expected monthly salary for our full-time trainee roles is between 2130-2970 euros per month. The exact monthly salary for each role is based on the candidate's number of completed academic credits and job location.
Our Summer Trainee positions are primarily targeted at students currently studying at, or recently graduated from, an educational institution in Finland, as well as Finnish students pursuing their studies abroad. Please note that we are unable to provide work permits or relocation services for these positions.
