Introduction

We are looking for a Senior Manager/Manager, Data to develop and continuously improve enterprise-wide data management capabilities at Metso. You will lead an assigned capability area, such as data strategy and governance, data quality or metadata management, and turn strategic ambitions into practical operating models, processes and ways of working across the organization. This is an opportunity to shape how Metso manages data as a strategic asset and strengthen the trusted data foundations needed for digitalization, analytics, AI and operational excellence.

The position reports to the Director, Data Enablement and is part of Metso’s Data & Analytics organization. The final title, Manager or Senior Manager, will be determined based on the selected candidate’s experience and scope of responsibility.

Team you’ll belong to

You will join Metso’s Data Enablement team within the Data & Analytics organization. We develop common data management foundations, governance practices and capabilities that help our businesses and functions use data consistently, responsibly, and effectively.

We work in a federated operating model across business, data and IT. As a team we strengthen data ownership, improve data quality and enable measurable business value from data. Our approach is collaborative, pragmatic, and development-oriented, translating enterprise-level principles into practical solutions.

What you’ll do

  • Take ownership of an assigned enterprise data management capability, such as data governance, data quality, metadata management, or data strategy.
  • Define and continuously improve related concepts, operating models, processes, standards and governance practices.
  • Translate Metso’s strategic objectives into a practical capability roadmap, priorities and scalable initiatives.
  • Establish common ways of working across business, data and IT, supporting adoption through communication, coaching, and training.
  • Define meaningful measures and KPIs to monitor adoption, effectiveness and business impact.
  • Facilitate workshops, working groups and governance forums, building alignment across stakeholders.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to business leaders, data roles, architects, solution owners, and IT stakeholders.
  • Monitor relevant industry developments, technologies and good practices and apply them where they create value for Metso.

What you’ll bring

  • Relevant experience in data governance, data quality, metadata management, master data management, data strategy, data architecture, data productization, or related discipline.
  • Experience leading data development, governance, quality or capability-building initiatives in a global matrix organization.
  • Practical knowledge of data strategy, data governance, data roles, data quality, data definitions, metadata, master data, data modelling, or data architecture.
  • Ability to create roadmaps, prioritize development needs, and lead initiatives toward measurable outcomes.
  • Experience establishing and rolling out common processes, standards and ways of working.
  • Strong stakeholder management, facilitation and influencing skills across functions, business areas, and geographies.
  • Ability to translate between business, data and IT perspectives and turn complex topics into practical, value-adding solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills and a structured, analytical, collaborative, and development-oriented approach.
  • Experience in industrial environments is valued. Familiarity with enterprise and operational platforms such as ERP, CRM, PLM or MES, modern data tools (e.g. MDM, data quality and data catalogues), or integration platforms is an advantage. Understanding how AI, automation, and data management tooling can improve data-related practices is also beneficial.

We support your growth and wellbeing by offering:

  • Purpose-led work: Contribute to enabling sustainable modern life and transforming the industry.

  • Wellbeing: Access to wellbeing programs, occupational healthcare, and supportive services.

  • Rewards: Competitive compensation and performance-based incentives.

  • Flexibility: Hybrid working options to support balance and productivity.

  • Growth: Learning pathways, mentoring, internal mobility, and global collaboration opportunities.

  • Culture: A caring, collaborative, and inclusive workplace committed to helping you thrive.
