Introduction
We are seeking a Senior Financial Controller to join our team in Market Area Europe! The role of a Senior Financial Controller is central to a company's financial success and offers many opportunities for career development and professional growth. In this position, you will report to Administrative Managing Director, Finland.
This position is located in Espoo, and we are happy to offer flexible working arrangements, including hybrid options.
Team you belong to
You will join a team of finance professionals dedicated to ensuring the quality of financials and processes. We work closely with different stakeholders, such as Business and Market Areas, Global service center, and other external partners such as auditors and tax officials.
The Finnish entity is the main IP owner within the Metso group and a shareholder in most group companies. The entity also hosts IT and other global services and acts as a Principal Company in the Metso Group. In 2024, the entity’s turnover was 1,8 B€ and its headcount ~2500. Finland's finance team gets to work with the most complex cases and most demanding volumes, which makes it the most desired place to be due to constant learning opportunities and constantly evolving challenges.
What you’ll do
As a Senior Financial Controller for Metso Finland, you will ensure the integrity, compliance, and efficiency of financial operations. Your main responsibilities include:
- Overseeing accurate and timely financial reporting (monthly, quarterly, annual) in line with local statutory standards and Group IFRS requirements.
- Managing statutory and tax reporting processes, including VAT/GST, Intrastat, EU Sales, and withholding tax filings.
- Ensuring compliance with financial regulations, internal policies, and evolving local laws; communicating relevant changes to stakeholders.
- Acting as the contact person for statutory accounting and tax matters across internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Supporting and advising Global Services on statutory and tax topics, GL balances, and period-end adjustments.
- Leading period closing activities, including journal entries, local GAAP adjustments, and asset depreciation calculations.
- Collaborating with auditors, regulatory authorities, and Business Services to streamline processes and ensure compliance.
- Providing local support during tax audits
Who you are
- University degree in Finance, Economics or equivalent
- A minimum of 10 years’ experience in Financial Accounting or in an operation of comparable size, preferably in a global business environment.
- Previous experience as an auditor can also be considered.
- Previous experience overseeing the work of service center teams
- Knowledge and experience of financial reporting (IFRS, local GAAP)
- Knowledge of local statutory reporting and tax compliance requirements
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in both Finnish and English.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with diverse individuals in a global, matrix organization.
- Knowledge of financial ERP and reporting systems, such as SAP and OneStream
- High ethical standards and accuracy in work.
