Are you passionate about transforming procurement through digital solutions and process excellence? Join Metso as a Product Owner, Procurement within the Procurement Excellence team and help shape the future of how we buy, collaborate, and create value to the overall Procurement organization.

 

At Metso, our Product Owners lead with purpose. In this role, you will combine Procurement expertise with digital leadership to guide agile teams by connecting business needs with digital/technical capabilities and ensure we deliver solutions that matter, that drive procurement performance, operational efficiency and value for the Source-to-Pay workstream. 

 

The preferred locations for this position are either Espoo (Finland), or Montreal (Canada). However, this position is a global role and we are happy to offer flexible working arrangements, including hybrid options. Depending on where the person is hired, 20% travel to Europe may be required.

You will be a part of the Procurement Excellence team, which helps the Business Area Procurement teams exhibit excellence and maturity by establishing processes and tools and disseminating best-in-class practices across the organization, allowing for informed procurement choices.

 
We work closely with the Business Area Procurement Heads, SAPphire (SAP) Program team, IT functions, Business Analytics, Global Business Services (GBS) and other key stakeholders. What you will do

 

  • Define and Communicate the Vision: Own the long-term product roadmap for procurement tools and capabilities.  Ensure all stakeholders understand the “what” and “why” behind each development priority.
  • Bridge Business and Technology: Translate procurement-related business needs into clear features and user stories with a focus on process optimization and usability for the procurement organization. Ensuring solutions support strategic sourcing, transactional procurement, compliance and supplier collaboration.
  • Drive Procurement-Focused Solutions: Leverage your procurement experience and process expertise to validate ideas, shape functional requirements, and challenge existing ways of working. In addition, build process improvements through solution implementation.
  • Prioritize for Value: Act as the final decision-maker for the requirements, managing the team backlog and ensuring alignment with strategic procurement goals and business value drivers.
  • Own Requirement Development: Lead the intake and refinement of business needs from across the procurement function, including category teams, operational buyers, and supply chain stakeholders.
  • Enable Agile Execution: Collaborate closely with developers, application owners, and architects. Participate in development planning and cycle execution.
  • Ensure End-to-End Alignment: Partner with the Application Owner to drive product success (ROI), and serve as the voice of the end-user within the agile team.
  • Support Strategic Initiatives: Contribute to digital development portfolio planning, support initiative launches, and help shape proposals for future investments in the procurement tool landscape.


Who you are

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Procurement, Information Systems, or a related field
  • 4–6 years of experience in procurement operations, spend analysis, or data-driven supply chain roles, with a strong understanding of procurement value levers
  • Deep knowledge of procurement processes, tools, and stakeholder needs across both Indirect and Direct Procurement environments
  • Proven experience as a Product Owner or similar role in an agile environment, driving the development of procurement-related digital solutions
  • Hands-on experience implementing and enhancing Source-to-Pay (S2P) tools and platforms such as but not limited to Jaggaer, including integration with SAP and other enterprise systems.
  • Strong analytical and business process design skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions and utilize analytics tools to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Skilled in prioritization frameworks to manage product backlogs and ensure alignment with procurement strategy and business goals
  • Ability to translate complex procurement and business requirements into actionable, prioritized development work for agile teams
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional teams, suppliers, and senior leadership
  • Strategic mindset with attention to detail, ensuring delivery of user-centric and value-driven solutions
  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal
