Introduction

We are looking for a Head of AI Platform & Governance to join our AI Transformation Office within Metso’s Business Growth function. You will be joining a new and rapidly expanding AI Transformation organization, working within a modern, cloud-first technology environment, with the opportunity to establish the architecture, platform capabilities and operating practices that help Metso build and use AI securely, reliably and at scale.

Acting as Chief AI Architect, you will establish the technical foundations that supports Program Gold, Metso’s AI transformation program. You will translate requirements and learning from program delivery into approved architecture patterns, reusable capabilities and lifecycle controls—helping future initiatives move faster, build on proven approaches and avoid repeatedly solving the same problems.

Team you will belong to

You will build and lead a small, experienced team supporting AI platform engineering, technology and future readiness, and Responsible AI governance. Together, you will establish reusable technical foundations and practical procedures that help teams across Metso create trustworthy AI products and solutions.

Reporting to the VP, AI Transformation, you will collaborate closely with business stakeholders, the Data & Analytics organization, Metso Digital organizations and IT. Within the AI Transformation Office, you will work with engineering colleagues to turn delivery requirements and lessons into reusable architecture and platform capabilities; with portfolio colleagues to anticipate demand, dependencies and future initiative needs; and with adoption colleagues to make approved capabilities accessible for individual and team use. You will provide clear technical direction and dependable shared foundations while building on the expertise and responsibilities of partner teams.

What you’ll do

  • Build and lead a small, experienced AI platform and governance team with clear priorities and shared ownership.
  • Act as Chief AI Architect, defining AI architecture and approved technical patterns for models, agents, data access and integrations.
  • Develop reusable AI platform capabilities based on real delivery needs, helping future initiatives move faster.
  • Establish lifecycle and monitoring controls for shared AI capabilities, covering access, evaluation, quality and cost.
  • Prepare shared capabilities for secure, reliable production use together with AI Engineering and IT.
  • Coordinate practical Responsible AI governance, working with Legal, cybersecurity and privacy.
  • Shape the AI technology roadmap, anticipating what future initiatives will need.
  • Connect platform direction with delivery and adoption needs to maximize reuse and avoid duplication.

 What you’ll bring

  • Experience leading technical teams and delivering production AI platforms or shared technology services.
  • Strong AI architecture and systems-design judgment across models, agents, integrations, data and security.
  • A solid understanding of platform engineering, including reusable services, deployment automation and integration tooling.
  • Experience with lifecycle and production-readiness practices such as evaluation, observability, access control and cost monitoring.
  • The ability to assess emerging technology and turn it into clear technical direction and a practical roadmap.
  • Strong people leadership and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • A relevant degree or equivalent experience in engineering, computer science, information systems, AI or a related field. Experience establishing enterprise AI foundations in a global industrial company is a plus.
  • Awareness of Responsible AI and risk management. Familiarity with frameworks such as NIST AI RMF or ISO/IEC 42001 is a plus.
