Introduction
We are looking for a Global Category Manager, Packaging to join our Logistics Sourcing and Sustainability team at Metso. In this role, you will own and drive the global category strategy for packaging materials and related services, leading supplier selection, pricing development, and continuous improvement initiatives. You will contribute to cost efficiency, sustainability, and supply performance across Metso’s global operations.
You will report to the Director, Logistics Sourcing and Sustainability.
This role is based in Espoo, Tampere, or Lappeenranta, with flexible hybrid working options, and includes occasional international travel.
Team you will belong to
You will join a team of sourcing and sustainability professionals focused on logistics and packaging categories. The team plays a key role in optimizing total cost of supply, ensuring supplier performance, and supporting Metso’s sustainability targets.
We collaborate closely with internal stakeholders across business areas, engineering, and sourcing, as well as external suppliers and partners. Our team operates globally, with ways of working that emphasize collaboration, transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement.
What you’ll do
- Lead RFQ processes, supplier selection, and contract negotiations for packaging materials
- Develop and implement global category strategies in collaboration with business stakeholders
- Drive development and pricing of packaging solutions to meet business and customer needs
- Monitor supplier performance and lead continuous improvement and development programs
- Analyze total cost of supply and identify cost-saving opportunities
- Ensure alignment of contracts, KPIs, and supplier performance with business requirements
- Act as business owner for packaging-related systems, including supporting users, reporting, and ensuring system capabilities enable effective category execution
- Drive communication, governance, and information sharing across global stakeholders
- Support warehousing-related sourcing activities, depending on business needs and your experience
What you’ll bring
- Proven experience in category management, sourcing, or procurement in a global environment
- Strong track record in RFQs, supplier selection, negotiations, and contract management
- Ability to analyze total cost of supply and translate business needs into sourcing decisions
- Strong stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills
- Experience in supplier performance management and continuous improvement
- Good understanding of packaging materials, development, and related processes
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, Business, or similar
- Experience in warehousing categories is seen as an advantage
