Introduction
We are looking for a Communications Director to join Metso’s Communications and Brand team and to drive Metso’s external communications, media relations, and public affairs activities. In this role, you will focus on managing the external communications planning, implementation, and development towards the external audiences, most specifically the general, financial, and trade media.
This position is mainly located in Espoo, Finland, but we are happy to offer flexible working arrangements, including hybrid options.
Team you belong to
The position is in the global Communications and Brand team, and this role reports to the VP of Communications and Brand. You will be working in close collaboration with the whole Communications and Brand team and additionally other internal stakeholders and company management. You will play an important role in contributing to the success and development of the function and have excellent learning opportunities from a team of very experienced communications professionals.
What you’ll do
- Managing Metso’s external communications activities and building the annual communications plan to support Metso’s business goals and strengthen the reputation through professional external communications.
- Aligning the messaging towards external audiences, in close collaboration with internal stakeholders in the businesses, market areas, and functions.
- Building and maintaining relationships with media outlets and responding to media inquiries. Preparing for and hosting media interviews.
- Building plans and engaging with various external stakeholders as needed, including customers, community members, decision-makers, and industry influencers.
- Planning events or creating press releases and other content to serve the needs of the media or other external audiences.
- Arranging media and crisis management training.
Who you are
- A relevant university degree.
- Excellent written and spoken English and Finnish skills, as well as mastery of other languages, are advantages.
- Experience working with the media, sometimes under pressure, and understanding the media logic.
- Experience working in a global B2B company.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and knowledge of multi-channel content creation and tools.
- Good project management skills.
- Ability to build relationships and trust with various internal and external stakeholders, including senior management.
