We are seeking a Director, Commercial Project Management for the Performance Solutions organization in Minerals Business Area. You will lead and develop our global commercial project management capabilities. The role offers a unique opportunity to influence the commercial success of large mining and minerals processing projects.  

Director, Commercial Project Management leads a team of professionals and works closely with Sales, Project management, Engineering, Legal and Finance to ensure commercially balanced project execution and sustainable profitability throughout the project lifecycle.

This position is primarily located in Espoo Finland, but we are happy to offer flexible working arrangements, including hybrid options or other locations. 

What you’ll do 

As Director, Commercial Project Management, you will be responsible for establishing and driving commercial excellence across our project portfolio. You will ensure that contracts are managed appropriately; risks are effectively managed, project margins protected, and claims and change management processes generate value for Metso and our customers. Expediting is also team´s responsibility area and it covers monitoring and following up on suppliers and vendors to ensure materials, equipment, documents, and services are delivered on time according to the project schedule. 

• Ownership of commercial project management and developing the capabilities  
• Work closely with delivery project management focusing on commercial risks of the projects  
• Protect project profitability throughout the project lifecycle
• Drive change and claims management excellence
• Strengthen contract governance and project lifecycle management
• Enable collaboration across all stakeholders e.g. Sales, Project Delivery, Supply  

To succeed in this role, you will have 

• Master's degree in engineering, Business, Law, Finance, or on related field
• Experience in commercial management, contract management, project management, or a related leadership role within complex capital projects in mining, process industries, energy, or EPC environments
• Proven experience in risk management, claims, change management and negotiations
• Demonstrated success leading teams and working across cultures and regions
• Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills
• Excellent business acumen combined with analytical and strategic thinking
• Fluent written and spoken English
