Introduction
As Director of Business Development in the Minerals Business Area, you will drive sustainable profitable growth across our Minerals business. You will work with a great global team and deliver versatile business development initiatives. You will contribute to Metso’s success by executing on our focused Minerals segment strategy.
Your role is to own and execute priority strategic initiatives from problem definition to implementation and impact realization. You will have the opportunity to leverage your experience in process development, AI transformation, sales and delivery excellence, and change management to take the business to the next level.
Success in the role requires the ability to lead challenging development initiatives across a global and complex environment with stakeholders across Minerals business lines, functions, aftermarket colleagues, market area colleagues and group functions.
The location for the position is our headquarters in Espoo. However, we offer flexible working arrangements, including hybrid options.
The team you belong to
The Director, Business Development role is part of the Minerals business area. In this position, you will report to Fredrik Vaahtokari, VP Business Development of the Minerals business area.
What you’ll do
- Lead and execute high-impact business and process development initiatives end-to-end as initiative owner within the Minerals business area, in close collaboration with the Minerals business area team as well as Minerals aftermarket, Market area and Group function colleagues.
- Identify and implement AI use cases in core business processes (e.g., sales, pricing, service).
- Lead and inspire global, cross-functional teams to deliver results, foster innovation, and promote collaboration across regions and businesses.
- Participate in the general Minerals BA business development agenda by e.g., providing insightful analysis of market conditions and competitor activities.
Who you are
- Proven experience in driving and implementing transformational business development initiatives addressing growth and profitability improvement in international businesses.
- Experience from front-end sales, proposal development and/or pricing in an industrial sector company.
- Experienced in leading process improvement projects, e.g., sales process development, data-driven process transformation and AI-powered process renewal.
- Skilled in versatile large-scale analysis and developing recommendations based on data.
- Readiness to work hands-on on initiatives varying from ad-hoc analysis to multi-year projects.
- Experience in day-to-day management of global teams and managing cross-functional collaboration across diverse geographies and leading in a matrix organization.
- Intrinsic drive to overcome challenges to deliver exceptional results
- Direct experience in mining, mineral processing, or heavy industry is beneficial but not essential. We also value proven global industrial leadership and the ability to drive transformation in complex B2B environments.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong problem solving and analytical capabilities with a wide business acumen.
- Master’s degree in engineering, business, or a related field.
- Fluency in English; other languages are an advantage.
