We are seeking a 

Cost Estimator

to join our Plant and Solutions Sales team in the Minerals Business Area.

We offer solutions from test work and techno-economic studies to complete minerals processing plants and life-cycle services. You will be responsible for delivering the most accurate cost estimates about solution projects for sales and proposals teams to ensure the high financial performance of the projects.

In this position, you will report to the VP, Global Solutions Sales.

This position is mainly located in Espoo, but we are happy to offer flexible working arrangements, including hybrid options.

Team you belong to

You will join a team of Plant and Solutions Sales belonging to the Performance Solutions Function, dedicated to supporting the sales of the Minerals Business Area. The Plant and Solutions Sales team is acting as an integrator within Metso by promoting and driving the sales of complete minerals processing plants, together with more complex plant units in grinding, flotation, thickening, and filtration, to customers. Team consists of Sales Managers, Proposal Managers and Cost Estimators.

Cost Estimators are responsible for compiling the most accurate cost estimates together with several internal stakeholders like proposal managers and technical specialists in the product lines, process metallurgists, and project delivery management. In this role you have the possibility to learn about all Metso Mineral’s products and large project delivery related topics.

Our team culture is all about getting it done together, in close collaboration with all relevant stakeholders. The members of our team are located in various locations.

Responsibilities include

  • Coordinate global teams of technology, engineering, supply, and logistics specialists in the preparation of complex minerals processing plant estimates
  • Support sales and proposals management by building accurate cost and profit estimates according to sales strategy and proposals process
  • Collaborate in the global company network to build uniform and up-to-date estimation tools, maintain the Excel-based estimation template, and develop existing tools.
  • Build and maintain project cashflow forecasts to support accurate financial planning of solution projects
  • Prepare, deliver, and revise estimates per agreed deadlines ensuring correctness, quality, and document control
  • Contribute to the success of the organization by aligning and engaging with other functions and stakeholders

To succeed, you will need

  • Knowledge to compile accurate estimation for plant projects but also for studies etc.
  • Experience about cost configurator or sophisticated excel based cost estimation tool, Python skills are a benefit
  • Enthusiasm to work with excel
  • Understanding about how much hours are needed in practical level in certain discipline, for example with engineering, procurement and construction
  • Understanding of utilization of allowances, contingencies and risk reservations
  • Good communication and collaboration skills in a global set-up
  • Commitment to one's own tasks and time schedules
  • Organized and structured way of working
  • Careful and accurate nature
  • Capability to work under pressure
