Introduction
We are seeking a Chief Mechanical Engineer to be part of the Services Engineering team in Beneficiation, Dewatering, and Hydrometallurgy (BDH) business line, in the Services business area. You will be responsible for service delivery engineering on upgrade and modernization projects, sales projects, and service offering development for Flotation technologies.
The Chief Engineer is responsible for engineering designs, including the preparation of specifications, drawings, and reviewing and approving work performed by co-workers and externals. In addition, excellent interpersonal skills are required in developing cooperation with the Flotation Product and Delivery Groups. You will report to Arlu Vorster, the Manager of Mechanical Engineering.
This position can be located in Espoo (Finland), Centurion (South Africa), Lima (Peru), or Sala (Sweden), but we are happy to offer flexible working arrangements, including hybrid options. However, role involves up to 30% of travel to customer sites.
What you’ll do
- Performing engineering and design activities for service upgrade & modernization projects, in co-operation with external engineering providers.
- Executing engineering activities utilizing established processes, tools, and guidelines.
- Executing project activities (engineering, package management, and project engineering) and preparing deliverables to meet budget, schedule, and quality targets.
- Participating in the development of engineering tools and templates.
- Supporting Services sales cases and proposals with preliminary/basic engineering input.
- Providing engineering support to the Services Product Group in developing new service products.
- Developing collaboration with Flotation Product and Delivery Groups.
- Participate in / perform asset walks, when required.
- Participate in site works such as inspections, installation supervision, and commissioning support, when required.
Who you are
- Minimum a bachelor’s degree in the mechanical engineering field
- 8+ years of experience in relevant engineering discipline(s), of which min. 5 years of experience in Flotation products.
- Experience in engineering and design, with drawing checking and approval duties.
- Site / Field (service) experience with Flotation products is an advantage
- In-depth knowledge of relevant engineering tools (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, EDM & Enovia)
- Exposure and/or experience in package/project engineering (or Project Manager) duties
- Ability to plan, schedule, coordinate, and solve problems effectively
- Ability to successfully work with others in a matrix from a range of cultures within a diverse political, economic, technical, and social environment.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
- Self-motivated approach and ability to work independently.
- Full working proficiency in English
