Introduction 

 

We are seeking a Chief Engineer, Automation to strengthen our Smelting Automation team in Finland! In this role, you will be involved in various industrial plant supply projects to carry out automation system design and delivery. You will also get to contribute your expertise in digital product development and delivery projects and cooperate with various stakeholders such as suppliers, colleagues, product owners, and customers. In this position, you will report to Director, EIA Engineering.   

 

This position is preferably located either in Espoo or Tampere, but we are happy to offer flexible working arrangements, including hybrid options. Please note that this position involves some traveling.

What you’ll do 

 

  • Manage DCS and digital solutions deliveries in international projects 
  • Lead a project team of automation engineers and manage the project in terms of budget, schedule and customer satisfaction from conceptual design until final handover at site 
  • Contribute to process automation sales 
  • Develop automation and process control concepts for selected plant types and work as an automation specialist for selected process area 
  • Participate and lead 1st of its kind delivery projects for new digital products  
  • Support testing, commissioning, and tune-up of automation at customer sites 
  • Develop automation in Metso’s technologies 
     

 

Who you are 

 

  • Degree in Automation, Electrical Automation, or similar 
  • 5+ years of experience in process automation, preferably in the process industry 
  • A proactive and result-oriented approach to project implementation 
  • Strong English communication skills, both spoken and written
  • You are self-driven and have a systematic working style with an ability to solve problems 
  • Experience in digital solutions (optimization, reporting, asset monitoring, etc.) is an asset
  • Knowledge of network design and configuration
  • Experience in functional and control solution design for industrial processes is an asset 
  • Project management experience in turn-key automation deliveries is an asset
