Introduction

 

We are seeking a Business Controller to join our Market Area Europe and Central Asia Finance team. You will be responsible for delivering financial support and insights to business areas, functions, and markets, which involves coordinating monthly reporting, budgeting, and forecasting activities in line with corporate guidelines. Your role plays a crucial part in ensuring financial accuracy, transparency, and strategic alignment across the organization, which will contribute to informed decision-making, operational efficiency, and the achievement of Metso’s strategic targets and KPIs. In this position, you will report to the Administrative Managing Director.

 

This position is located in Espoo, Finland. We are happy to offer flexible working arrangements, including hybrid options. 

 

 

Team you belong to

 

Business Controller works in Finland finance team that is responsible for the financial management of Metso Finland Oy. This entity is the biggest company in the Metso Group. 75 different countries, consisting of significant volume generated by all main Business Areas (Aggregates, Minerals, Services, Consumables). The Finnish entity is the main IP owner within the Metso group and a shareholder in most group companies. The entity also hosts IT and other global services and acts as a Principal Company in the Metso Group. In 2024, the entity’s turnover was 1,8 B€ and its headcount ~2500. Finland's finance team gets to work with the most complex cases and most demanding volumes, which makes it the most desired place to be due to constant learning opportunities and constantly evolving challenges. The work is very diverse and includes a good mix of business controlling and financial controlling.

 


What you’ll do

 

  • Coordinate/participate in monthly reporting activities according to corporate guidelines
  • Give financial support to selected businesses, functions, and market areas
  • Drive budgeting and forecasting within your responsibility area, ensuring accurate forward-looking financial estimates
  • Establish and maintain a strong network of business and finance counterparts from Business Areas, Market Areas, Global Business Services, and Corporate Functions
  • Provide guidance in day-to-day finance questions to operational teams, but also participate in resolving complex system/process-related issues as needed
  • Participate in process audits, control audits, hard close, and year-end audits by providing information and acting as a key contact between auditors and business
  • Understand business requirements by working closely with business counterparts, manage stakeholders and their expectations, increase financial awareness in order to meet Metso's strategic targets and KPI’s

 

 

Who you are

 

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field. 
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience from global/international companies
  • Deep understanding and knowledge of both management accounting and financial accounting
  • Technical skills are a must (SAP S4/HANA, OneStream & Excel) and any reporting development skills are seen as an asset
  • Hands-on & Can-do attitude + continuous improvement mindset
  • Solution and development oriented with problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and networking skills
  • Commitment to internal controls and ability to work under pressure to meet strict deadlines
  • Written and verbal communication skills in English. Finnish language skills are considered an asset.
