Introduction

 

We are seeking a Quality Technician to join our team. You will be responsible for supporting the quality control and assurance efforts for the NCA Pumps Business Line. This role involves performing inspections, working with both internal and external suppliers, and documenting quality activities to ensure that all quality measures are met. In this position, you will report to the Manager, QEHS.

This is an on site position is located in Columbia, SC. There will be 10% travel required for the role.  

 

Team you belong to

 

You will join a team of Quality Technicians dedicated to conducting inspections of incoming materials, in-process items, and finished products to ensure compliance with drawings and quality standards. We collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, such as engineering teams and production departments, as well as external stakeholders, including suppliers and customers. What you’ll do

 

  •      Inspect Materials and Products: Conduct thorough inspections of incoming materials, in-process items, and finished products to ensure they meet drawings and quality standards.
  •       Collaborate for Quality: Work closely with internal teams and external suppliers to resolve quality issues and implement effective corrective and preventative actions.
  •       Maintain Quality Records: Document and maintain detailed records of quality inspections, test results, and other quality-related activities.
  •       Develop Quality Procedures: Assist in the creation and implementation of robust quality control procedures and standards.
  •       Drive Continuous Improvement: Participate in initiatives aimed at enhancing product quality and operational efficiency.
  •        Support Quality Audits: Aid the QEHS Manager in conducting quality audits and ensuring compliance with all relevant standards.
  •       Monitor KPIs: Contribute to and maintain both local and global KPIs, supporting improvement initiatives with key safety and quality metrics.
  •       Implement EHS Policies: Support the implementation of Metso’s Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) policies and programs in the NCA Pumps BL, ensuring compliance with legal requirements, company standards, and customer site requirements.
  •       Manage Tooling Logs: Keep the calibrated tooling log up to date and ensure all tooling certificates are current. 

 

Who you are

 

  •       Educational Background: High school diploma with relevant technical courses or vocational/college training in manufacturing/quality.
  •       Experience: 2+ years in quality assurance and/or inspection.
  •       Technical Skills: Proficiency in blueprint reading and geometric tolerance.
  •       Industry Knowledge: Experience in manufacturing or industrial equipment; knowledge of foundry, fabrication, and machining processes is a plus.
  •       Language Proficiency: Fluent in English.
  •       Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and conceptual thinking.
  •       Quality Control Expertise: Solid understanding of quality control principles, inspection techniques, and testing procedures.
  •       Tool Proficiency: Skilled in using quality inspection tools and equipment.
  •       Attention to Detail: Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
  •       Communication Skills: Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  •      Teamwork: Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  •       IT Proficiency: Proficient in IT systems (SAP, PowerBI, EveryAngle, Office 365, etc.).
  •       Quality Management: Familiarity with ISO 9001 or similar quality management systems is advantageous.
  •       Continuous Improvement: Lean Six Sigma skills are a plus.
  •       Flexibility: Willingness to travel up to 10%.
