We are seeking a Specialist – Separation, to join our Global Field Services, Separation team.

You will be responsible for the provision of advisory support for capex installations of thickeners, flotation and other separation and hydro technologies. Your role plays a crucial part in ensuring safe and reliable equipment installation, advising installation teams of best practice and required specifications.

In this position, you will report to the Senior Manager, Global Field Services, Separation

This position is a global one and regular international travel will be required.

The Global Field Services team consists of experts who are dedicated to serving Metso’s global customers across our extensive proprietary portfolio of Separation, Hydro and Automation technologies. You’ll be joining a team who are passionate about delivering industry leading, sustainable technology solutions to the global Mining Industry. 

We work closely with internal & external stakeholders, such as owner/operator miners, EPC’s and our internal product groups.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Lead a global Installation & Commissioning Support team and its competence management
  • Build, organize and provide superior technical expertise and resources in the area of installation and commissioning of Metso equipment
  • Prepare and review installation & commissioning plans and resource scheduling in conjunction with our global field service planner and in support of the Project Manager and Market Area Field Services
  • Interface for project delivery manager and customer during installation and commissioning activities
  • Management and execution of agreed project installation & commissioning scope in support of Project Manager
  • Provide customer feedback to Project Management (technical and commercial), Business Line, Project Implementation, Product Group, Market Area and other stakeholders
  • Active participation in technical claim handling (when applicable)
  • Contribute to continuous improvement feedback loop with Project Delivery and Technical Support
  • Provide input for improvement of engineering design to enhance efficiencies in assembly, installation and commissioning activities
  • Oversee capacity management and cross BU/BL/PG project tracking to systematically capture new project requirements and overall project tracking through system tools as may be available and developed, providing transparency to all stakeholders
  • Ensure compliance with all Metso QEHS rules and regulations as well as customer and local QEHS legislation as may be appropriate. Perform periodic site safety audits
  • Ensure proper fulfilment of reporting requirements (e.g. site reports, time sheets, ITP’s, leads, technical correctness, recommendations, NCRs, safety notifications etc.)
  • Ensure an active and thorough level of communication is continuous and consistent between site, Project Manager, Business Line, Product Group and Market Area
  • Utilize existing tools and processes to ensure coordinated interface
  • Actively participate in training plans, training delivery and mentoring of Metso personnel 

 

WHO YOU ARE

  • Matric (Grade 12)
  • BSc degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 10 years of experience working with Separation and Hydrometallurgical related equipment technologies 

 

WHAT SKILLS, COMPETENCIES AND REQUIREMENTS (HARD AND SOFT) ARE ESSENTIAL FOR THIS ROLE?

  • Site installation & commissioning and /or site construction experience with a comprehensive understanding of hazards and risks associated with site work
  • Operations and maintenance context experience/understanding of industrial sites – mining specific preferred
  • Proven ability to work in a cross-cultural environment
  • Ability to lead/manage internal and external resources and resource teams
  • Ability to assist sales with estimating installation/commissioning schedules, demands and costs
  • Conceptual thinking, problem solving, good verbal and written communication skills
