We are seeking a Repairs - Technical Sales Support individual to join our Repairs Team. The successful candidate will ensure that OEM repair opportunities are accurately identified, technically assessed, and commercially supported, enabling the delivery of reliable, high‑quality repair solutions that enhance equipment performance and lifecycle value.

In this position, you will report to the Director – Technical Sales Support, Africa.

This position is mainly located in Alrode, Gauteng.

 

TEAM YOU’LL BELONG TO

You will join the Repairs Team and work closely with internal and external stakeholders, such as Customers, Site Account Managers, the Repairs Teams and Service Centre Support.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Customer & Sales Team Support

  • Provide technical support to Site Account Managers by reviewing OEM equipment repair requirements, inspection results, and defining accurate repair scopes
  • Participate in customer meetings to present technical assessments, explain repair options, and support value-add selling of Metso service solutions
  • Proactively Identify potential repair opportunities when attending customer site visits, shutdowns, and equipment condition assessments. Taking time to visit customer salvage yards
  • Providing technical insight into failure modes, equipment condition, and OEM repair recommendations
  • Support technical warranty claim and customer complaint resolution
  • Travelling may be required to support sales activities and technical problem-solving
  • Collaborate with the various Product Lines (PLs) for technical input that maybe required during the assessment and proposal development

Service Centre Interface (Excluding workload management)

  • Act as the technical interface between the Service Centre and the Site Account Managers
  • Review inspection reports, dimensional data, and condition assessments to ensure accurate scope definition prior to quotation
  • Clarify technical questions between workshop specialists and the commercial teams to ensure compliance with OEM standards
  • Ensure proposed repair activities align with approved procedures and engineering guidelines in collaboration with the Service Centre Manager

Technical Sales & Proposal Development

  • Assist Service Centre Estimators in preparing accurate quotations that comply with commercial conditions
  • Ensure quotations include inspection summaries, technical findings, failure assessments and recommended OEM repair pathways
  • Support Site Account Managers with technical justification to improve quotation success rates and customer confidence
  • Monitor and track repairs cases from receipt of equipment through to purchase order placement
  • Utilize SF(Salesforce) to open opportunities, track interactions and conduct regular follow-ups with SAM’s regarding outstanding open orders with the goal of reducing and maintaining the outstanding order list to below 120 days

Documentation & Communication

  • Ensuring all inspection reports, repair scopes and documentation are correctly recorded, numbered according to Job number and stored in the correct server folders
  • Communicate inspection findings, repair processes and technical clarifications clearly to Site Account Managers or Customers when required
  • Coordinate with internal teams during project handover to align timelines, deliverables and customer expectations
  • Support responses to technical queries, deviation and scope adjustments

Continuous Improvement

  • Provide feedback on recurring equipment issues, inspection challenges, and customer requirements to strengthen Metso’s repair offering
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of OEM repair standards, inspection templates, and proposal quality
  • Promote productized repair solutions aligned with global strategy – “We go beyond”
  • Ensure alignment with global repair standards and best‑practices

WHO YOU ARE

  • Matric (Grade 12)
  • Technical qualification in Mechanical Engineering, or Trade qualification with 15 years’ experience in engineering field, Metso equipment experience would be advantageous
  • 3–5 years’ experience in OEM equipment repairs, heavy equipment maintenance, field services, or technical sales support
  • Strong knowledge of Metso and competitor OEM equipment, repair processes, tolerances, and critical components
  • Experience working directly with customers in mining, aggregates, or heavy industrial environments across Africa

WHAT SKILLS, COMPETENCIES AND REQUIREMENTS (HARD AND SOFT) ARE ESSENTIAL FOR THIS ROLE?

 

  • Excellent technical diagnostic and analytical ability
  • Strong communication skills, including customer-facing presentations and technical explanations.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, OEM repair procedures, and inspection reports
  • Highly detail-oriented with strong problem-solving capability
  • Customer-focused mindset with ability to communicate OEM technical value clearly
  • Proficiency with MS Office and familiarity with Metso other CRM systems (e.g., SAP, Salesforce)
