Metso is seeking a Grinding Mill Reline Equipment Technician to join their global team of experts. The role is intended to support the increasing number of Metso reline machines and feed chute transporters in operation and on order.

 

By providing global onsite and remote expertise, as well as training to both customers and locally based Metso service technicians, the successful candidate will improve customer outcomes and interactions, and machine availability. This role is preferably based in Perth, Australia with the product engineering team, but remote working can be considered for a suitable candidate.

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE

 

  • Provide expert technical support of Metso’s reline equipment products to customers and local Metso service technicians, both onsite and offsite (as required). This support would typically involve proactive readiness inspections and maintenance prior to relines, troubleshooting during relines, and post-reline inspections and maintenance planning.
  • Support with post-reline / shutdown reporting, fault diagnosis and spare part identification.
  • Support and contribute to manufacturing and assembly processes, including Factory Acceptance Testing (onsite and/or remotely as required).
  • Support and contribute to onsite machine assembly and commissioning, including Site Acceptance Testing and associated processes (onsite and/or remotely as required).
  • Review and improve training materials, supporting documentation and training tools, including Metso’s virtual reality training suite.
  • Provide pragmatic and high impact training to internal and external stakeholders (customers and their relining contractors).
  • Maintain close collaboration with local service technicians and customers to identify trends, opportunities, or concerns across the installed base.
  • Provide input and feedback to the product engineering and technical support teams to assist in continuous product development efforts.
  • Lead or provide expert input to incident investigations.
  • Contribute to strategic sales cases and project meetings as needed, including participation in customer meetings & presentations.

 

TO SUCCEED

 

It is anticipated that this role is best suited to a mechanical or mechatronic engineering technician with lived working experience in the mining machinery industry, where working in accordance with strict safety requirements is expected and attention to detail and clear communication is needed to meet customers’ shutdown and availability expectations.

 

  • Mechanical or mechatronic engineering or trade qualification.
  • At least 5 years of related industry experience.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently with own initiative, reaching out for guidance when necessary.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Willingness to mentor and provide support to less experienced peers.
  • Strong and demonstrable experience with operation, troubleshooting and maintenance of CANBus control and communication systems and components.
  • Strong and demonstrable experience with operation, troubleshooting and maintenance of high-pressure hydraulic systems and hydraulic components.
  • Strong and demonstrable experience of machine assembly, commissioning, and operation, ideally in mining applications.
  • Ability to travel locally and internationally when required, potentially at short notice and up to two weeks at a time. 
  • Ability to pass an international criminal background check and/or obtain a security clearance as maybe required from time to time.
