We are looking for a Process Engineer – Gold Product to join our Gold Product Group team within the Hydrometallurgy Business Line in the Market Area Africa organization. In this role, you will support the development, sale, and delivery of gold processing solutions and technologies while contributing to process innovation and project execution across global operations.

You will report to the Director - Gold Process Solutions, and the role location is Centurion, Gauteng, with a hybrid working model available. Willingness to travel globally, including longer assignments supporting project teams and site activities, is required.

Team you will belong to

You will join the Gold Product Group, a team focused on developing, selling, and delivering gold processing technologies and solutions, including cyanide leaching, BIOX, ASTER, and HiTeCC processes. The team supports Metso’s global business while contributing to research and development initiatives that advance gold processing technologies.

The team collaborates closely with customers, sales managers, proposal teams, project delivery teams, account managers, suppliers, metallurgical laboratories, and consultants. Team members are based in Centurion, Gauteng, and work together across project, technology, and customer-focused activities.

What you'll do

  • Contribute as a member of the Gold Product Group expert team, supporting global business activities and technology delivery.
  • Perform metallurgical test work as part of research and development programs and process improvement initiatives.
  • Support process design, detailed engineering, commissioning, and implementation of new gold processing plants.
  • Support or lead process and technology development projects within research and development programs.
  • Contribute to solution sales and service activities by supporting tender preparation, sales discussions, and marketing initiatives.
  • Deliver process engineering studies, commissioning activities, and implementation projects.
  • Provide internal and external technology training and maintain effective relationships with customers and key stakeholders.

What you'll bring

  • Degree in process metallurgy, chemical engineering, process engineering, or an equivalent discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience in mineral process flowsheet development and equipment design.
  • Experience conducting laboratory and pilot-scale mineral processing test work.
  • Ability to apply metallurgical and process engineering knowledge to project execution, technology development, and plant commissioning activities.
  • Strong teamwork and collaborative problem-solving skills.
  • Interest in project-oriented work and the ability to manage priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Fluent communication skills in English, with the ability to communicate effectively and confidently with a range of stakeholders.
  • Ability to translate innovative ideas into practical process solutions.
  • Willingness to travel internationally and work on extended assignments with project teams and site personnel when required.

  • Proficiency in additional languages.
