Job Title: Sales Manager – Bulk Material Handling, Cape Town, South Africa
We are looking for a Sales Manager - Bulk Materials Handling - to join our Sales Team. In this role, you will lead a team of Sales Engineers and drive business growth across the African Market Area through the sale of technically complex capital equipment, spare parts, and services within the Bulk Material Handling portfolio. Your work will play a key part in strengthening customer relationships, expanding market presence, and delivering sustainable business growth.
You will report to the Director: Bulk Hub Southern Africa.
This role is based in Cape Town
Team you belong to
You will join the Bulk Material Handling Sales Team in Cape Town and work closely with Product Specialists, Business Line Management, Regional Sales Teams, Project Teams, Service Teams, and other internal and external stakeholders across the Metso network. The team works collaboratively to deliver value-driven solutions to customers throughout Africa.
What you'll do
- Drive sales growth across capital equipment, spare parts, and service offerings within the Bulk Material Handling portfolio.
- Develop and execute sales and marketing strategies that support business objectives and market expansion.
- Identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities while building and maintaining strategic customer relationships across Africa.
- Assess customer requirements and develop technically and commercially competitive solutions that maximize customer value.
- Manage tender participation, commercial evaluations, sales decision-making processes, budgets, forecasts, and performance targets.
- Coordinate sales activities with internal teams to support successful project execution and customer satisfaction.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and industry developments while promoting Metso’s products, services, and brand throughout the region.
What you'll bring
- Matric (Grade 12).
- Solid experience in sales management within a mining equipment sales environment.
- Proven experience leading and developing high-performing sales teams.
- Strong commercial and technical understanding of mining and bulk materials handling equipment.
- Sound market knowledge of the mining and industrial sectors across Africa.
- Experience in budgeting, forecasting, sales planning, quotation management, pipeline management, and business planning.
- Strong leadership, people management, negotiation, and business development skills.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and engineering documentation.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain long-term customer relationships and develop value-added solutions.
- Excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal, planning, organizational, and time management skills.
- Strong commercial awareness, business acumen, problem-solving ability, and decision-making capabilities.
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, and perform effectively in demanding commercial environments.
- Strong customer-service orientation and ability to collaborate with global and cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other business systems.
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively across Africa.
- Qualification in Engineering, Business Management, Sales, Marketing, or a related field would be advantageous
- Experience with SAP would be advantageous
