Job Title: SAP Project Coordinator, Bulk Material Handling, Cape Town, South Africa

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented SAP Project Coordinator to join our team in Cape Town, South Africa. In this role, you will oversee and manage all SAP-related activities within the project lifecycle, ensuring accurate data integrity, smooth process execution, and full compliance with internal governance requirements.

You will work closely with Project Managers, Supply Chain, Finance, and Commercial Support teams to ensure that SAP transactions, documentation, and project controls are executed correctly and on time. Your expertise will be essential in supporting successful project delivery, maintaining cost accuracy, tracking progress, and enabling efficient workflow management.

You will report directly to the Project & Proposals Manager

This position is based in Cape Town

TEAM YOU BELONG TO

You will be part of a dynamic and supportive Project Management & Commercial Support team that collaborates across Metso’s global network. You will work closely with project managers, finance controllers, supply chain teams, and technical stakeholders to ensure SAP data accuracy and strong administrative governance throughout each project.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Manage all SAP project creation, maintenance, and updates, including project structures (WBS), network activities, and cost allocations.
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of purchase requisitions, purchase orders, goods receipts, and service entries in SAP.
  • Maintain and update project budgets, cost tracking, and forecasting within SAP.
    Support Project Managers with SAP reporting, including cost reports, progress reports, milestone tracking, and schedule monitoring.
  • Coordinate documentation, workflows, and relevant approvals in SAP and related systems.
    Ensure all SAP transactions comply with internal governance, financial controls, and audit requirements.
  • Monitor project costs, commitments, and variances, highlighting risks or discrepancies proactively.
    Collaborate with Supply Chain and Procurement to ensure vendor information, quotations, and lead times are correctly reflected in SAP.
  • Track invoice progress, resolve discrepancies, and support vendor payment processes.
    Support contract administration by maintaining accurate SAP records for deliverables, changes, and project variations.
  • Assist project teams with SAP navigation, troubleshooting, and process guidance.
    Maintain project documentation libraries, ensuring all records are complete, current, and audit‑ready.
  • Participate in internal meetings and customer clarification sessions as required.
  • Contribute to standardization of SAP practices, templates, and workflow improvements.
  • Provide training or onboarding support for new team members in SAP project processes.

WHO YOU ARE

  • Diploma or degree in Business Administration, Project Management, Supply Chain, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Strong working knowledge of SAP (PS, MM, FI/CO modules preferred).
  • Experience in project administration, project controls, or financial tracking is desirable.
  • Ability to read and understand basic engineering documentation advantageous.
  • Excellent English communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Strong commercial and financial awareness.
  • Ability to work independently while supporting multiple stakeholders.
  • High attention to detail, accuracy, and process discipline.

WHAT SKILLS, COMPETENCIES AND REQUIREMENTS (HARD AND SOFT) ARE ESSENTIAL FOR THIS ROLE?

  • High level of proficiency in SAP and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Analytical mindset with strong problem‑solving skills.
  • High sense of urgency and service‑oriented attitude.
  • Ability to adapt in a dynamic, changing project environment.
  • Ability to work with financial data, cost structures, and project reporting.
  • Valid driver’s license (clean record) and willingness to travel to sites if required.
