Introduction:

 

We are seeking a Project Manager, Training Services to join our Metso Training Academy team. You will be responsible for overseeing the processes, implementation, and execution of training programs that support operational excellence, safety compliance, and workforce development. This role ensures that training programs sold by Metso Academy align with mining regulations, site-specific needs, and strategic business goals with the management of the projects for each customer case. In this position, you will report to the Director, Commercial & Sales Enablement.

 

This position can be located anywhere within the United States, and can include up to 25% travel.

 

What you’ll do:

 

  • Lead training projects across multiple mine sites, managing timelines, budgets, and risks.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams (LDD, Delivery, Commercial) to align training with business goals.
  • Engage stakeholders including site managers, unions, and regulators to ensure training compliance.
  • Facilitate communication between corporate training and field operations.
  • Build partnerships with vocational institutions and external training vendors.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., ISO, MSHA, OSHA) and maintain accurate records.
  • Monitor training quality through audits, assessments, and feedback.
  • Identify skills gaps and support succession planning through strategic training initiatives.
  • Incorporate mining tech trends (e.g., automation, digital tools) into training strategies.
  • Develop training programs with SMEs, using simulations, e-learning, and hands-on methods.

 

Who you are:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree or work experience equivalent in Learning & Development, Engineering, Education, Business, or related field.
  • Advanced certifications in Project Management (e.g., PMP) or Training & Development (e.g., ATD, Cert IV TAE) preferred.
  • 5+ years in training project management within the mining or heavy industry sector.
  • Experience with underground and surface mining operations a plus
  • Strong project management and leadership skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Proficiency in LMS platforms, training analytics, and digital learning tools.
  • Knowledge of SCORM (Sharable Content Object Reference Model) standards is a plus.
  • Ability to work in remote and high-risk environments.
  • Strategic thinking with a focus on operational impact and workforce development.
