Introduction

 

We are seeking a Product Development Engineer – Crusher to join our team. You will be responsible for crusher wear part Chamber Optimization (CHOP) projects for the Metso as well as third party equipment. In this position, you will report to the Manager, Technology Center USA.

 

This position is mainly located in Brookfield, WI but we are happy to offer flexible working arrangements, including hybrid options. There will be approximately 10-20% of travel required for the role.

 

Team you belong to

 

You will join a team of project development engineers dedicated to supporting CHOP projects through customer engagement, field data collection with local teams, and the development of crusher wear parts.


We work closely with internal and external stakeholders, such as engineering teams, sales representatives, and key customers, and suppliers and manufacturing partners. Our team culture is all about collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement. The members in our team are located in Brookfield, WI.

 

What you’ll do

 

  • Collaborate directly with customers on CHOP projects to understand needs and deliver tailored solutions.
  • Partner with local market teams to collect and analyze field data for product development.
  • Drive innovation in crusher wear parts through hands-on support and continuous improvement.
  • Share your expertise by training Metso Outotec colleagues—formally and informally.
  • Design new components using 3D modeling and 2D manufacturing drawings.
  • Take on additional responsibilities that contribute to team and project success.

 

Who you are

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
  • Proficient in CAD and PDM software, as well as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Experience with 3D scanning and point cloud analysis (highly preferred)
  • Strong understanding of mining operations and the crushing process (highly preferred)
  • Familiarity with metallurgy and mechanical equipment/processes
  • Skilled in customer negotiations and identifying technical needs
  • Background in wear part analysis and design (highly preferred)
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills; able to liaise across all levels of the organization
  • Effective written communication for reports, training, and marketing materials
  • Confident presenter with the ability to engage managers, clients, and customers
  • Highly organized with strong project management capabilities
