Are you a seasoned legal professional looking to make a significant impact in a dynamic and global environment? Metso USA Inc. is seeking a talented Legal Counsel to join our team, providing top-notch legal services under the guidance of our Head of Legal NCA (North and Central America). This role offers the perfect blend of challenge, growth, and flexibility.

 

Location: The primary location for this role will be Brookfield, WI. Flexible working arrangements available, including hybrid options. There also could be up to 30% travel, both international and domestic.

 

What You’ll Do:

 

As a Legal Counsel at Metso, you will:

  • Provide Expert Legal Counsel: Review, draft, and negotiate contracts for the sale of equipment, systems, and related services with sophisticated U.S. and international customers.
  • Support Global Procurement: Handle contracts for the procurement of parts, components, assemblies, and finished products, ensuring seamless integration with company equipment and services.
  • Manage Ancillary Contracts: Oversee nondisclosure agreements, letters of intent, distributor and agency agreements, IP licenses, and more.
  • Develop Standard Practices: Contribute to the creation of global standard contract forms and practices.
  • Litigation and Claims Management: Strategize and control costs for commercial, product liability, IP, environmental, and other assigned litigation and claims.
  • Implement Corporate Policies: Help develop and enforce corporate policies on legal compliance, IP protection, contracting practices, and product liability prevention.
  • Train and Mentor: Provide training to employees and mentor legal team members.

 

Who You Are

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree, licensed to practice law in at least one U.S. state.
  • 5-7 years in a corporate law department or law firm, with a focus on mining, construction, or manufacturing industries.
  • Contract Expertise: Extensive experience in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial contracts.
  • Motivated and Resilient: Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Cultural Competence: Comfortable working in a multicultural and multilingual environment.
  • Client-Focused: Strong skills in building and managing relationships, understanding customer needs, and negotiating effectively.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication, cooperation, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Language Skills: Proficiency in a second language (preferably Spanish or French) is a plus.
