POSITION STATEMENT
Perform, provide and coordinate site technical services for Metso products, including Mills, Flotation Cells and Thickeners. The incumbent will be involved in technically advising, supervising, auditing, maintenance, retrofitting, troubleshooting, installation and commissioning of the above-mentioned equipment supplied by Metso along with other services related to spares and wears.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Technical leadership and coaching of the Field Service Technicians in respective technologies to ensure all works are carried out to Metso OEM standards.
- Training of new recruits as required.
- Travel to customer plants as required, to investigate equipment problems and recommend solutions, or have Aftermarket Services Team quote new or retrofit equipment.
- Perform necessary adjustments, modifications or repairs on customer’s machinery.
- Use initiative to take action, without specific direction, to originate and develop ideas.
- Discuss the nature of operating difficulties with customer representatives, explaining the cause of the malfunction and ways of preventing re-occurrence.
- Prepare reports explaining the nature of service calls and action taken.
- Recommend improvements in product design, service policies, and other related areas, based on knowledge of field problems, customer attitudes, competitors’ equipment, etc.
- Deliver technical presentations to customers as part of the training and development process.
- Complete all necessary reporting requirements such as progress reports
- Provide technical liaison services between customers, product divisions and sales personnel.
- Provide hands-on mechanical service work in the field to Metso customers.
- Perform technical evaluations and analyse equipment and machine component failures.
- Install and commission systems, machinery and associated spare parts and wear material components.
- Carry out investigation of customer complaints regarding quality, tolerances, specifications and delivered condition of products.
- Provide field trip reports in accordance with company standards.
- Promote the sales of OEM spare parts and wears material components.
- Determine customer needs and achieve excellence in service.
- Adhere to safe work practices and report immediately any unsafe equipment.
- Work within the provided OH&S guidelines and policies.
- Report all accidents and hazards.
- Wear the provided personal protective equipment when appropriate and required.
- Follow Metso’s operations policies and procedures by understanding the corporate Quality System.
- Work within management policy guidelines set.
- Consult with management on OH&S matters affecting the work place.
RELATIONSHIPS
- Reports ultimately to Service Manager
- Works closely with other Service Technicians.
- Works with Internal Sales Representatives and other general office staff when required.
- Work closely with the Project, Account and Product Managers.
- Work with Customer Service Representatives and other general office staff as required.
- Liaise with the WA Service Coordinator.
