Introduction: 


We are looking for an energetic Mechanical Tradesperson who wants to take the next step. The role involves a split between "hands on" mechanical work and managing the mechanical maintenance in a small established foundry and managing small projects. We have an experienced inhouse production team to work with along with a well-established team of external contractors. You will be the glue tying it all together.  In this position, you will report to the Foundry Manager.

Our foundry has four sections; Pattern Shop/Stores, Before Cast, Melt/Pour and After Cast. We work closely in sync within our foundry's four sections in collaboration with our Production Support Team - enabling daily operations' functionality. Our team culture is all about safety and collaboration

 

What you will do:

 

  • Ensure that plant equipment and machinery is inspected, maintained in a safe, timely and efficient manner while maintaining the company values.
  • Plan the best way to approach the daily projects and maintenance schedule.
  • Ensure all work is in accordance with work instructions, to maintain plant utilization and keep up with safety standards, plant integrity and meet the requirements of shop floor employees. 
  • Timeously respond to breakdowns in order of priority and advised by plant Supervisors.
  • To ensure that compliance with legal, governance and policy requirements are achieved.
  • Prioritizing records keeping of maintenance repairs and inspections. 
  • Detailed reports of plant failures and conditions.
  • Essential to communicate mechanical issues to plant users and managers to prevent future malfunctions.
  • Share knowledge and expertise with shopfloor employees.
  • Use hand tools and power tools for all handheld operations.
  • Use workshop mechanical devices for basic maintenance operations.
  • Identify and stock up plant equipment and machinery parts that are fast moving.
  • Data entry into the business portal
  • Operate fixed and movable load shifting equipment.
  • Contribute to process improvements
  • Treat plant and equipment with care.
  • Project maintenance support

  • Trade qualified Mechanical Fitter
  • A motivated individual with a strong work ethic
  • Possess an impeccable safety record
  • Be keen to contribute to a progressive and dynamic organization 
  • Hold a nationally recognised trade certificate
  • Forklift Licence (desirable)
