Introduction:
We are seeking a Foundry Operative to join our Foundry in Ballina. Alongside your team, you will be responsible for general housekeeping and help with manufacturing of foundry’s products. In this position, you will report to the Foundry Supervisor.
Team you belong to:
Our foundry has four sections; Pattern Shop/Stores, Before Cast, Melt/Pour and After Cast. Training is provided across each to allow the Foundry Operative to become competent in all four areas. We work closely in sync within our foundry’s four sections in collaboration with our Production Support Team - enabling daily operations’ functionality. Our team culture is all about safety and collaboration.
Main responsibilities:
- Ensure work is conducted in a safe, timely and efficient manner while maintaining the company values.
- Plan the best way to approach the daily output of product.
- Ensure all work is in accordance with work instructions, to maintain product integrity and meet customer specifications and quality requirements.
- Manufacture moulds as per the work schedule.
- Secure moulds ready for pouring.
- Pour moulds at correct temperature.
- Clear moulds from the pouring floor in a timely manner.
- Knockout sand moulds in a safe and productive manner.
- Ensure all priority castings are delivered to the fettling shop as requested by supervisors.
- Ensure castings are fettled in a timely manner to meet customer delivery dates.
- Ensure all castings are checked for defects and quarantined when defects are present.
- Use hand tools and power tools, handheld operations
- Use workshop machines for basic operations
- Undertake manual handling
- Pack & dispatch castings as per the work schedule.
- Operate fixed and movable load shifting equipment
- Maintain equipment in good condition and immediately report any issues to your Supervisor.
- Contribute to process improvements and put forward ideas at toolbox meetings on ways to improve quality and safety.
- Treat plant and equipment with care.
- Project maintenance support
- Support maintenance technician coordinator as required
