Product Technical Support Engineer – Stirred Mills
Introduction
The Product Technical Support Engineer owns and drives technical expertise for Metso stirred mill technologies (HIGmill, VTM, SMD) with a strong focus on operational support and performance improvement at customer sites worldwide.
The role combines technical leadership, customer-facing technical support, operational data analysis, and collaboration with engineering teams to improve reliability, availability, and product performance of installed equipment.
What you’ll do
Technical Support & Customer Interface
- Lead technical support for customers and internal stakeholders regarding the operation, performance and maintenance of stirred mill equipment.
- Support plant operations through troubleshooting and technical assessments, including interaction with PLC and process control systems where applicable, and identify opportunities to improve equipment performance and availability.
- Lead site visits to investigate technical issues, lead commissioning activities and identify improvement opportunities.
Technical Analysis & Continuous Improvement
- Drive analysis of operational and process data to support performance assessments and identify potential optimisation opportunities.
- Lead technical studies, root cause investigations and preliminary risk assessments related to equipment performance or failures.
- Develop and recommend technical solutions in collaboration with product engineering, service teams and suppliers.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the installed base
Product & Engineering Collaboration
- Support engineering and product development teams with field feedback and operational insights from installed equipment.
- Drive continuous product improvement initiatives and internal technical projects.
- Maintain technical documentation and product data within the PLM environment throughout the product lifecycle.
Who you are
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 Years experience in the mining, minerals processing or cement industry.
- Strong and proven technical expertise of industrial equipment and mechanical systems.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret operational and process data.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to interact with international customers and internal teams.
- Familiarity with PLM systems and engineering tools is an advantage.
- Experience with PLC systems, industrial automation or process control systems is a plus.
- Confident handling of the common MS Office programs, very good Excel knowledge.
- Understanding of FE analyses is an advantage.
- Strong customer-oriented mindset with strong problem-solving capabilities.
- Structured and analytical approach to technical challenges.
- Ability to work effectively in a global, cross-functional team environment.
- Fluency in English, any additional language beneficial.
- Willingness to travel internationally (approximately 20%) to support customer sites and commissioning activities.
