Introduction

 

We are seeking a Senior Engineer Imports / Assistant Manager Imports to join our Operational Purchase and Logistics team. You will be responsible for managing end-to-end operational procurement and import logistics activities, including purchase order execution, supplier coordination, import shipment management, customs clearance facilitation, logistics cost control, and MIS reporting. Your role plays a crucial part in ensuring uninterrupted material availability for production and business operations while maintaining compliance with company policies and international trade regulations. In this position, you will report to Laxman Singh.

 

This position is mainly located in Alwar, Rajasthan, India.

You will join Operational Purchase, dedicated to ensuring timely availability of imported materials and components for production and business operations. The team works on purchase order execution, supplier follow-up, import shipment coordination, customs clearance support, inventory tracking, cost control, and management reporting.


We work closely with global suppliers, freight forwarders, Customs House Agents, Planning, Sourcing, Engineering, Warehouse, PPC, and Production teams. Our team culture is built on ownership, proactive communication, collaboration, accuracy, and timely execution.

 

 

What you’ll do

 

  • Execute purchase orders for imported materials and components in SAP and ensure timely closure of delivery commitments.
  • Follow up with global suppliers on order confirmations, delivery schedules, shipment readiness, and critical order expediting.
  • Coordinate import shipment bookings with freight forwarders and logistics service providers for air, sea, and multimodal shipments.
  • Monitor inbound shipments from supplier dispatch through final delivery and proactively resolve logistics bottlenecks.
  • Review import documentation including Commercial Invoice, Packing List, BL, AWB, Certificate of Origin, and other statutory documents.
  • Coordinate with Customs House Agents for customs clearance and ensure compliance with import regulations, DGFT guidelines, and company policies.
  • Prepare procurement and import logistics MIS reports covering OTD, open PO status, shipment transit time, freight cost, inventory coverage, and supplier performance.
  • Verify supplier and logistics invoices, support cost reconciliation, and drive cost-saving initiatives within procurement and logistics operations.

 

Who you are

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, or a related discipline.
  • 7–10 years of experience in import procurement, operational purchasing, and logistics management.
  • Hands-on experience in managing international suppliers, import shipments, customs clearance, and logistics coordination.
  • Working knowledge of SAP MM and procurement processes is essential.
  • Strong understanding of import/export regulations, international trade documentation, freight forwarding, customs clearance, and transportation management.
  • Advanced MS Excel skills with the ability to prepare, analyze, and present MIS reports independently.
  • Strong communication, coordination, negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in manufacturing, engineering, mining, heavy equipment, or industrial products industry is preferred.
