Pumps RTD Project Manager

Introduction
We are seeking a Pumps RTD Project Manager to join our Pumps Business Line team. The purpose of this role is to lead and coordinate research and development projects within Pumps Business Line to deliver validated innovations and new products that both align with Metso’s customer’s requirements and advance the company’s strategic objectives. Your role plays a crucial part in product development. In this position, you will report to Director, Product Management.
This position is mainly located at Alwar, Rajasthan.
Key Responsibilities
1.Define with product management the scope, hypotheses, milestones, and success criteria for R&D and CPI projects.
2.Own stage gate governance and facilitate go/no go, pivot, and kill decisions with leadership.
3.Build adaptive plans with clear decision points; maintain project task lists and schedules.
4.Drive execution across multiple concurrent workstreams; track progress and recalibrate based on findings.
5.Implement appropriate delivery frameworks (e.g., stage gate, agile/lean, hybrid) for high uncertainty work.
6.Partner with product managers and engineers to structure experiments, prototypes, and validation plans.
7.Ensure rigorous documentation: protocols, data capture, results, and reproducibility standards.
8.Oversee prototyping to derisk project deliverables and minimize project timelines.
9.Support IP generation (patents, trade secrets) and coordinate with legal on disclosures and filings.
10.Coordinate across research, product, design, manufacturing/operations, supply chain, quality, and regulatory.
11.Facilitate unblockers, decisions, and technical reviews; ensure clear accountability across owners.
12.Build and manage project/program budgets (equipment, materials, testing, external services) and CAPEX approvals.
13.Proactively identify technical, regulatory, and safety risks; implement mitigation and contingency plans.
14.Provide timely, business-oriented updates to executives and key stakeholders.
15.Maintain transparent metrics dashboards (milestones, budget, risk, burn down, learnings).
16.Identify manufacturability, scalability, and reliability risks early; align on acceptance criteria.
17.Foster a culture of curiosity, evidence-based decisions, and psychologically safe experimentation.
18.Support launching and go to market strategy for new products and services.
Who you are
- Engineering degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Mining, Mineral Process Engineering or similar from any reputed University.
- Previous Project Management experience in a similar enviornment preferred
- Strong mechanical Knowledge of Pumps and how they operate preferred
- Good knowledge of Production processes like Fabrication and Assembly.
- Good knowledge base on available raw material globally more specifically grades of steel.
- Strong organizational skills required
- Clear communication skills required
- Ability to lead a cross-functional global team
