Title: AM/DM-Project Manager

Introduction:

 

The Project Manager is responsible for leading assigned projects within the Pumps Business Line and ensuring delivery in line with contract requirements, schedule, budget, quality, and customer expectations. Project assignments will be allocated by the Manager – Project Management & Administration at the initial stage of the project, with participation in pre-contract negotiations wherever required.

 

The role works under the overall guidance of the Manager – Project Management & Administration and acts as the project focal point for internal teams, customers, and Market Area representatives, wherever required.


What you’ll do:

  • Ensure compliance with Metso policies, processes, guidelines, and QEHS standards.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, customer focus, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure adherence to project governance and documentation standards.
  • Lead the project core team to successfully execute assigned projects while maintaining an ethical, professional, and cooperative approach with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Organize and coordinate necessary project resources while encouraging, coaching, and leading by example to promote effective teamwork.
  • Review and acknowledge contracts/orders in a structured and controlled manner.
  • Understand contract conditions, participate in meetings to support negotiation of revisions where required, and communicate essential contractual information to relevant stakeholders.
  • Manage assigned projects end-to-end, including scope, schedule, cost, budget, risks, documentation, and customer commitments.
  • Manage baseline scope, schedule, budget, and change requests to control project overruns and protect the company from unnecessary commercial or contractual liability.
  • Review project quality requirements and ensure compliance through coordination with relevant stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, including proposal, engineering, QA/QC, procurement, production, logistics, and factory teams, to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Monitor compliance with project quality standards, technical specifications, contractual requirements, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare and submit periodic project reports covering schedule, cost, risks, actions, delays, cash flow/payment status, and key issues to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure successful project close-out, including documentation completion, commercial closure support, lessons learned, and customer/service handover.
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships to enhance confidence, resolve project issues, and support future business opportunities.
  • Identify project risks, delays, commercial exposures, and scope changes at an early stage and escalate critical matters to the Manager – Project Management & Administration.
  • Support change order management, claims preparation, and contractual correspondence wherever required.
  • Track project KPIs, including on-time delivery, cost performance, documentation status, risk status, Project Quality Index, and customer commitments.

 


Who you are:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Project Management, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum seven years of project management experience, preferably in engineered equipment, pumps, mining, or industrial projects.
  • Experience in developing and managing project processes and cross-functional teams.
  • Knowledge of SAP or other ERP systems is advantageous.
  • Experience in the mining, pumps, or aggregates industry is an advantage.
  • Experience/knowledge of engineering, procurement, fabrication, quality control, scheduling, cost control, contract management, and project documentation is desirable.
  • PMP certification is preferred.
  • Strong decision-making and people management skills, with the ability to drive performance, teamwork, and motivation of team members.
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and oral) and effective interpersonal skills are required, as this person will have frequent interaction with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Project and contract management skills, including planning, organization, cost control, contract terms, risk management, and stakeholder coordination, are required.
  • Must be able to function effectively both as a team member and as an individual contributor.
  • Highly motivated individual with the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Fluency in English, especially technical and contractual terminology.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications and project reporting tools.
