We are seeking a Field Services Technical Sales Support – Africa to join our Technical Sales Support Team. The successful candidate will be responsible for promoting, developing, and growing Field Services and related service business concepts together with Sales, Field Services, and Business Lines. Acts as a trusted specialist and first point of contact for customers’ maintenance, operations, and purchasing organizations, driving sustainable, profitable growth of Metso’s service business across Africa.

 

The role is responsible for shaping service offerings based on customer needs, managing the commercial aspects of the business, and ensuring effective handover and execution in line with Metso’s safety, quality, and lifecycle principles.

 

In this position, you will report to the Director, Technical Sales Support for Africa.

This position is mainly located in Centurion, Gauteng.

 

TEAM YOU’LL BELONG TO

You will join the Technical Sales Support Team and work closely with internal and external stakeholders, such as Site Account Managers, Field Services Operations, Business Lines, Logistics, Supply Chain, Finance, Controlling, Human Resources and Marketing.

 

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Strategy & Business Development

  • Develop and implement the strategic sales growth plan for Field Services (contractual and spot) and service-related offerings, ensuring alignment with Metso’s regional and global Services strategy
  • Create, maintain, and continuously refine the business case for service concepts, including market demand, revenue potential, cost structure, and margin targets
  • Develop and execute commercial and operational growth initiatives to ensure long-term sustainability and development of the field services business in Africa
  • Identify new field service opportunities within the installed base, (Install & Commissioning, modernization & upgrades, operate & maintain, and Lifecycle agreements)

 Sales & Commercial Execution

 Develop and implement a strategic sales plan for Field Services, modernizations projects, and expert consulting in collaboration with Sales and Service Sales teams

  • Serve as a specialist point of contact for Sales and Field Services regarding service concepts, scope definitions, pricing logic, and customer value propositions
  • Support opportunity qualification, tendering, proposal development, price negotiations, and contract closure for service agreements
  • Monitor market competitiveness and prepare lost sales analyses, comparing Metso offerings with competitor solutions to propose improvements

 Customer Engagement & Market Interface

 Conduct regular customer visits across the region to present Metso’s service solutions, commercial models, and lifecycle value propositions

  • Capture customer requirements and translate them into commercially viable service scopes and offerings that meet operational expectations
  • Actively promote Metso’s reputation by providing professional, knowledgeable, and responsive service support to customers and prospects
  • Monitor customer satisfaction using defined evaluation tools and implement improvement actions where required

 Internal Coordination & Handover

 Coordinate handovers from Sales, Business Lines, Minerals & Delivery, and Services Operations to define service, modernization, and project scopes

  • Ensure service offerings are structured to allow efficient execution with minimal risk and maximum customer value
  • Promote and ensure proper handover of sold scopes to operational teams, maintaining control of contractual and commercial commitments
  • Maintain close interaction with internal stakeholders to ensure agility, alignment, and effective routing of customer matters

 Marketing & Enablement

 Collaborate with Sales and Marketing to design and execute service launches, sales campaigns, and regional initiatives

  • Support the development of sales collateral, presentations, and value cases appropriate for African markets and customer segments
  • Ensure consistent service messaging and value proposition understanding across Sales and Field Services teams

 Governance, Safety & Compliance

 Ensure that all service concepts, offers, and contracts comply with legal, safety, health, environmental, and Metso governance requirements

  • Promote compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, and other applicable standards.
  • Actively support Metso’s safety-first culture, ensuring services sold are executable within Metso safety standards
  • Perform administrative tasks such as CRM updates, reporting, order entry, and documentation to support transparent governance

 Leadership & Capability Development

 Contribute to the development and training of Field Services and Service Sales personnel in service concepts, commercial models, and customer value articulation

  • Support effective use of resources assigned to the service business

WHO YOU ARE

  • Matric (Grade 12)
  • Ideal would be a degree or similar in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Business Engineering, or related discipline
  • Minimum would be a formal technical qualification with extensive (+7 years) experience in OEM Field Services operations
  • Minimum 8+ years of experience in service sales, business development, or commercial roles within mining, aggregates, or heavy equipment services
  • Proven experience in field services, aftermarket, or lifecycle services business models
  • Experience operating in African markets is essential
  • Strong commercial, financial, and business case development skills
  • Strong understanding of concentrator plants, mining processes, and large-scale equipment
  • Solid knowledge of Metso technologies, services, and lifecycle solutions
  • Proficiency in ERP/CRM systems and Microsoft Office tools
  • Fluent spoken and written English (additional languages advantageous)
